Surprise! Or not.
More than 2100 registered sex offenders from NC were found on MySpace.

It's against NC state law for sex offenders to belong to websites where children are also members.
It's not shocking news that sexual predators are on MySpace. Predators look for easy access to create their victims (people and children are not automatic victims).
If you are a parent or guardian, how closely do you monitor your child's activity on the internet? Have you talked to your child about internet safety? Does your child know anything about the common techniques of sexual predators, like grooming?
If you are a parent or guardian, get educated about sexual predators and how to educate your children! It's the job of adults to protect children from sexual predators.
